League Update – June 7th
Last weeks softball schedule was slightly depleted due to the Specsavers Youth Games.
The Mens division however had a full programme and with teams all beating each other this division is proving to be very exciting. Ship and Crown played 2 games in three days but this did not affect their play and they recorded 2 victories. The first win was against Titans the game was very close until the 5th innings when Ship and Crown scored 13 runs to cruise to victory 20-5. Ship and Crown’s 2nd game was against league toppers Central Electrics. Centrals led after the 1st innings but that was the only time they were in the lead and Ship and Crown piled on the runs with good batting and many home runs to secure the victory.
The other game saw NRG Rangers defeat Norman Piette Blue Sox 18-10. Rangers player of the match Ben Corson scored the games only home run and this victory keeps Rangers near the top of the division.
The only game in Co-Ed Division 1 saw a comfortable win for league leaders Tornados over 2nd place Norman Piette Blue Sox. Blue Sox pitcher gave Tornados a lot of walks and with good base hits Tornados scored every innings to secure victory.
Co-Ed Division 2 saw the Bulldogs team produce a solid performance against Specsavers but the experience from their opponents shone through for Specsavers to win 15-10. The Bulldogs are batting much better and their player/coach Pete Le Page scored 2 home runs. Daniel Marriott replied with 1 home run for Specsavers and a late rally of 4 runs saw his team home.
In the other game Core Focus Rookies secured an easy victory over Generali Panthers. Rookies enjoyed a batting display in the 2nd innings pushing 18 runs across the plate and therefore won the game in 5 innings.
