League Update – July 12th
Ship and Crown had a good week in the latest round of Sportingbet Men’s Softball games. Their 1st game was against Titans and Ship and Crown raced into an early lead with the help of 2 home runs from Jason Mariess. Titans finished the game much stronger outscoring their opponents in the latter innings but the damage had been done and Ship and Crown ran out 18-12 winners. Ship and Crown had a more comfortable victory in their 2nd game of the week against Central Electrics winning 17-7.
The other Men’s game saw Norman Piette Blue Sox beat Titans 26-21. Marc Rihoy scored 3 home runs for the victors.
In the Sportingbet Co-Ed Division 1 it was a good week for ArcTech Panthers firstly beating NRG Rangers and then being given the game by Norman Piette Blue Sox.
Pirates have finally secured their 1st victory in the 1st division, since being promoted, by beating NRG Rangers 19-13. 3 home runs from Andy Mechem, 2 of those in the same innings, helped his team to the victory.
Core Focus Rookies got their revenge over league leaders Mercator in the Sportingbet Co-Ed Division 2, securing a 19-18 victory. Mercator were leading mid way through the game but Rookies never gave up and excellent safe batting saw them score the necessary runs in the last innings to score the victory keeping the 2nd division very tight at the top.
Richmond Rogues fought bravely in their game against Specsavers but the experience from their opponents shone through to secure a 15-11 victory.
Bulldogs outgunned Generali Panthers 18-1 in their encounter – the youngsters batting very consistently to win in 5 innings.
