Saturday saw the final game of the 2009 season take place – the Gladstone Trophy; The Best (Tornados – Sportingbet Division 1 winners) v The Rest (selection of players from other Division 1 teams).

The 1st inning started with The Rest scoring 2 runs and a tight defence saw Tornados unable to reply. The 2nd inning was a different story where it was “3 up, 3 out” for The Rest.  Although there were good hits courtesy of Steve “Goril” Mahy (a guest appearance from the Island Coach!!), Marco “OTP” Silvestri and Paul Vaudin this remained the case for the rest of the game; a tight defence from Tornados stopped any chance of them scoring.

Tornados batted solidly for the rest of the game to claim victory 13 – 2 in one of the shortest game this season – 55 minutes!
